I attended Teignmouth Grammar School. My career history is varied, having lived on a farm most of my life. I have been a nurse, carer and secretary working in finance, tax and for various solicitors. I also worked on the farm, and sold my engravings and watercolours.
I’m married to Tony, an agricultural worker, and my daughter Emily attends Paignton Zoo College. I am a full-time carer to Emily, who suffers with multiple immune system diseases.
I have done a lot of work for charities, including being secretary and treasurer for Newton Abbot Allotments, secretary for Newton Abbot Hospital Radio, and helping community transport.
My interests include keeping Siamese and Maine Coon cats, and doing the clerical work at shows. I also garden, and keep hens and tortoises.
Why I become involved with DPCV: I decided to help DPCV as when Emily’s health deteriorated there was no help or advice available or even suggested. I did everything myself including all the transitions, so I can now help other parents to find the help they need.
