Could your group or club benefit from some extra funding?

The Small Grants Scheme provides funding to community and voluntary organisations and groups, predominantly parent led, to enable children (0-18) with a disability to engage in positive activities.

The aim of the grant is to increase the number of short breaks services children and young people with additional needs and their families can access across Devon, whilst also allowing their parent/carer to receive a short break.  The grant can be used to fund a contribution towards start-up/training costs for new activities or groups, additional activities, trips, or equipment (less than £2500 per item) and can be up to a maximum of £5000.

The Small Grants Scheme is now in its fifth year.  Over this time we have funded lots of groups providing activities such as:

  • Creative workshops, i.e. bushcraft, puppet making, life skills
  • Activities/Day trips for groups of children/families sharing the same primary need
  • Sports sessions and equipment, e.g. football, badminton, surfing
  • Specialist instructors for specific activities
  • Holiday Schemes
  • Start up funding for new groups supporting children with additional needs and their families
  • Specialist equipment to enable children with more complex needs to participate in activities & outings

If you think your group or club would benefit from funding, or know any group or organisation who may like to apply, please contact 01392 382579 or email childrenwithspecialneeds-mailbox@devon.gov.uk for further information and an application pack.  The closing date for application is 1st December 2014.
